What is embed code?
Quick answer
Embed code is a short snippet of code that you copy from a tool and paste into your website, so the tool appears on your page. A chat assistant, for example, can then show up in the corner of the page.

Why it matters for a small business
Many tools live on someone else's website, but your customers are on yours. Embed code bridges that gap. You copy the snippet from the tool, hand it to whoever manages your site, and the tool shows up where your visitors are.
Pasting it in is usually a small job, but it belongs to whoever looks after the site, because changes to a live page affect everyone. Many tools also offer a direct link as an alternative. If you only need to share the tool, not place it in a page, a link is simpler.
A practical way to handle it: write two lines to the person who manages the site. Say what the tool is, for example a chat assistant that answers office-hours questions, and say where on the site it should appear. Ask them to try it on a test page first. This keeps a small change from turning into a surprise on your busiest page, and it gives you a record of who added what and when.
In a real lesson: Jotform AI Agents: An Agent That Answers Client Questions
In the Jotform AI Agents lesson, you build a chat agent for Hartley Law, a made-up small law office. At the end you click PUBLISH. The CHATBOT option adds the chat to a website.
Under Embed Code, you click Copy Code and send it to whoever manages the site. The other options on the left, like STANDALONE, give you a direct link instead.

Common confusions
Embed code vs a link
A link sends people to the tool's own page. Embed code puts the tool inside your page.
Copying vs publishing
Copying the code does nothing public until someone pastes it into the live page.
Tips
- Send the code, with a note on what it does, to your web manager.
- Test it on a draft or staging page first if you can.
- Check the agent's answers in Test Mode before the code goes live.
