To make a presentation with AI that you can actually send, give the tool four things (who the deck is for, the one message it must prove, your real notes pasted in, and the number of slides), fix the story at the outline before it designs anything, pick a brand kit so it looks like you, and check every number on the slides against your notes. The free lesson Prompting for Slides: Outline, Brand Kit, Check the Numbers teaches those four habits in about 7 minutes, and it opens a free 9-module course, AI Presentations and Visual Content, where you use them in Presentations.AI, Gamma, Slidebean, Runable, VisualGPT and Opus Clip.
This page is for consultants, marketers, founders and office staff at small firms who build client decks, pitch decks and social content without a designer. You do not need design skills. Every example uses made-up businesses and numbers.
Why do AI presentations go wrong?
AI slide tools can produce a deck in a minute. That is the easy part. What costs small firms is what a careless minute produces:
- Generic slides. A one-line prompt gets a deck that sounds like everyone else's, with stock photos and filler bullets.
- The wrong story. The tool puts the slides in a sensible-looking order that is wrong for this client, such as asking for budget before showing results.
- An off-brand look. Colours and fonts change every time, so the decks never look like your firm.
- Wrong numbers. The AI rounds, mixes up or invents figures, especially when it condenses notes. One wrong growth number in front of a client costs more trust than an ugly slide.
None of these is a tool problem. Each one is fixed by a habit that takes less time than fixing a bad deck.
What are the four habits that work in any AI slide tool?
1. Prompt with four parts
A strong slide prompt has the audience, the one message, the source and the shape. "For the client's owner and office manager, who are not finance people. Main point: Q3 grew 12%, and we recommend one more account manager. Here are my notes: … Six slides, one idea each, short bullets, no stock photos." With those four parts the AI has almost nothing left to guess. Adjectives such as "professional" or "stunning" add nothing.
2. Fix the story at the outline
Most AI presentation tools show a slide outline before they design. That is the cheapest moment to fix the order and cut what does not support the message: moving a line takes seconds, moving a designed slide can break the layout.
3. Set up a brand kit once
A brand kit, also called a theme or brand settings, stores your logo, exact hex colours, fonts and the images you allow. Set it up once and pick it for every deck, instead of describing your brand in every prompt, which drifts. Say which images are allowed, too: AI-made people and fake product shots can embarrass you in front of a client.
4. Check every number
Compare each figure on the slides with your source, one by one. Keep the ones that match, fix the ones that differ, and remove any number you cannot trace. That is a hallucination check, and it is the step that makes an AI deck safe to send. In the course's concept module, a deck says growth was 18% when the notes say 12%, and shows a retention rate that is not in the notes at all.
Which AI tool should you use for which job?
| Job | Tool in the course | What you practice |
|---|---|---|
| A deck from your notes | Presentations.AI | A 7-slide quarterly sales review, then a check of every number |
| A fast deck you edit by chatting | Gamma | Rough notes to a deck, one slide turned into a timeline by asking, PowerPoint and PDF export |
| An investor pitch | Slidebean | A one-page plan to a 13-slide pitch deck, and the figures the AI made up |
| A proposal from a messy brief | Runable | A client email to a six-slide proposal deck with an AI agent |
| Product photos and ads | VisualGPT | One phone photo to a lifestyle shot, a listing set and launch ads |
| A social carousel | Runable | A five-slide Instagram carousel, with the AI typo caught before posting |
| Short clips from a video | Opus Clip | One video to ranked, captioned 9:16 clips |
The habits are the same in every row. Only the tool changes.
How do you keep AI visuals and carousels accurate?
Images and carousels have their own version of the number check. Text inside an AI image can come out misspelled, a product shot can show something your product does not do, and an ad can make a claim you cannot back up. Approve the first image or the cover before the tool renders the rest, read every word on every slide, and check each claim the way you check a number. Fixes often cost AI credits, so catching a problem on the cover is cheaper than catching it on slide five. For video clips, check that each clip makes sense without the rest of the video, and that captions spell names correctly. Pick the right aspect ratio for each platform: 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok.
What does the course cover, in order?
- How Stepthrough Works (two minutes)

- Presentations.AI: a quarterly sales review deck from your notes
- Gamma: a presentation from your notes in 5 minutes
- Slidebean: a one-page plan to an investor-ready deck
- Runable: a messy client brief to a finished proposal deck
- VisualGPT: product photos, listing images and ads
- Runable: an Instagram launch carousel
- Opus Clip: one video to ranked social clips
Each practice takes about 7 to 16 minutes in a copy of the real tool that checks every step, so nothing touches your real accounts. Want the whole client-deck workflow from cited research to proposal instead? Take AI Presentations & Client Decks.
Key takeaways
- The tool decides how fast you get a deck. Four habits decide whether you can send it.
- Prompt with the audience, the one message, the pasted source and the shape.
- Fix the story at the outline, and set the look once in a brand kit.
- Check every number, word and claim against your source before anything goes out.
- The free course practices the habits in seven real tools, one job each.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the best AI tool for making presentations?
It depends on the job: Presentations.AI or Gamma for decks from notes, Slidebean for investor pitches, Runable for a proposal from a messy brief. The habits in this course work in all of them, and in chat assistants too.
- Can AI make a presentation from my notes?
Yes. Paste your notes and the tool drafts the outline, slides and layout. Read the outline first, then check every number against your notes before the deck goes out.
- Can I trust the numbers in an AI presentation?
Not without checking. AI tools can round, mix up or invent numbers. Compare each figure with your source and remove any you cannot trace.
- Is this course free?
Yes. All 9 modules are free and the practice needs no account. Each tool has its own plans for real use, and each module says what the free plan includes when it was checked.
