The limits around what an agent can do: only the access its job needs, a person approving actions that reach a client or move money, rules outside the AI that check each action, and a log of everything it did.

What is human in the loop?

A person checks an action before it happens. You do not need it for everything: use it for actions that reach a client, move money or cannot be undone, and let the rest run on their own.

What is a policy engine for AI agents?

A set of rules that checks every action an agent is about to take and answers Allow, Needs approval or Deny. Because the rules live outside the AI, a hidden instruction in an email cannot change them.
