ChatGPT Business vs Enterprise: Which Plan Fits (2026)
Quick answer
ChatGPT Business, formerly ChatGPT Team, is OpenAI's self-serve company account for teams, and ChatGPT Enterprise is its sales-led plan for larger organizations. Most small businesses and teams should start with ChatGPT Business: you sign up yourself, it is listed at $25 per user a month ($20 billed annually) for a Standard seat, with at least two seats, and OpenAI says it will not train on your workspace's data. Choose ChatGPT Enterprise when your company needs a sales-led contract, identity features such as SSO and SCIM, control over how long data is kept, or terms Business does not offer, such as Zero Data Retention or a BAA. Enterprise has no public price, so you ask OpenAI sales.

What is the difference between ChatGPT Business and Enterprise?
Business is OpenAI's self-serve plan for a team workspace. You sign up, buy seats, and manage users, roles and spend. Enterprise is a managed plan for organizations, bought through OpenAI sales, that adds identity features such as domain verification, SSO and SCIM, usage insights, longer context windows and control over data retention.
The everyday experience is similar. OpenAI lists the same core features on a standard seat in both: Projects, Apps, Company Knowledge, ChatGPT Agent, Deep Research and Codex. The difference is mostly about administration, contracts and compliance, not about what a person can ask the assistant to do.
How much does ChatGPT Business cost, and what about Enterprise?
OpenAI lists a Business Standard seat at $25 per user a month on a monthly plan and $20 per user a month billed annually, and a Premium seat at $125 monthly or $100 annually. Premium seats carry 5x more usage than Standard seats. A Business workspace needs at least 2 seats in total, and you can mix seat types. Prices can vary by country and currency. OpenAI also sells extra usage as workspace credits.
OpenAI does not publish an Enterprise price. You contact sales, and your seat types and billing follow your agreement. Plan on a conversation, not a checkout page.
Is ChatGPT Team the same as ChatGPT Business?
Yes. OpenAI says ChatGPT Team was renamed ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025. Older guides and videos that say Team are describing the same plan, though prices and seat options have changed since, so trust the current help page over an old screenshot.
Is my company data used to train ChatGPT on Business and Enterprise?
OpenAI says it does not train its models on your business data by default for ChatGPT Business and ChatGPT Enterprise. That is different from individual plans, where OpenAI's help center says conversations may be used to improve models unless you opt out in your data controls. If your staff use personal accounts for client work, the business plan protections do not apply to those chats.
Put the rule in writing. The post what staff can paste into ChatGPT is a starting point for a short policy, and the glossary entries on training data and data retention policy explain the terms.
When should a small team move from Business to Enterprise?
Move up when a requirement in the contract or the IT checklist cannot be met on Business. OpenAI says that if you need invoice billing, purchase orders, bank transfer, wire, ACH, net terms, split payments, Zero Data Retention, BAAs or other sales-led options, you should use a contracted offering instead of self-serve Business. Enterprise is also where SSO, SCIM, and control over retention are listed.
If none of that applies to you, Business is usually enough, and you can always move later. For how this compares with other vendors' team plans, see Claude Team vs ChatGPT Business and the four-way ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini vs Copilot.

Frequently asked questions
What is ChatGPT Business?
ChatGPT Business, formerly ChatGPT Team, is a paid shared workspace for a company: an admin adds teammates, shares projects and GPTs inside the workspace, and OpenAI says it does not train on the workspace's data by default. You can sign up for it yourself.
How do I get a ChatGPT corporate account?
For most small companies, a corporate account means a ChatGPT Business workspace that an owner or admin buys and then invites coworkers to. Larger companies that need SSO, data retention controls or a custom contract talk to OpenAI sales about ChatGPT Enterprise.
How many users do I need for ChatGPT Business?
At least 2 seats in total, which can be 2 Standard seats, 2 Premium seats, or 1 of each.
Does ChatGPT Business include the OpenAI API?
No. OpenAI says API usage is separate and billed independently. The API that tools such as n8n use is a different bill from a ChatGPT plan.
Can I get a BAA or Zero Data Retention with ChatGPT Business?
OpenAI says those are sales-led options and that you should use a contracted offering instead of self-serve Business. Ask OpenAI sales which agreement fits your use.
