Get Data From the Web Into Your Automations
Updated
For anyone who copies prices, news, CRM numbers or Reddit posts into a report by hand. You learn the four ways web data gets into an automation and the five parts of every HTTP request, then pull CRM data into Google Sheets with Coefficient, call APIs with n8n, read an API doc for bearer tokens, pagination and rate limits, catch webhooks, swap in a cheaper search API and replace Reddit RSS before it switches off.
Work through them in order: each step builds on the one before it, and every module runs in a practice copy of Stepthrough, Coefficient, n8n and Webhook.site right in your browser. It is free, and no experience is needed.

Frequently asked questions
- Should I use an API or web scraping?
- Use the official API whenever there is one, an RSS feed when a site offers it, and a pay-per-call data API for things like search results. Scrape only as a last resort: scrapers break when the page changes and are often blocked.
- What is a bearer token?
- An API key sent in the Authorization header as "Bearer" plus the key. Whoever holds it can use it, so store it in a saved credential and never put it in a URL.
- Why does my API workflow only return 100 rows?
- Most APIs return big lists one page at a time. Your workflow is only reading the first page. Follow the next page cursor or turn on the HTTP Request node's pagination option.
