What is Rows?
Quick answer
Rows is an online spreadsheet with a built-in AI Analyst. You import a file or connect a business tool, then ask questions in plain English, and the AI Analyst answers, adds columns or builds summaries in the sheet. Rows' site now says it has joined Superhuman.

Why it matters for a small business
Most small teams have the data and not the formulas. Rows lets someone in marketing, finance or operations import a CSV or Excel file, or pull data from tools such as HubSpot, Google Analytics, Google Ads or Gmail, and then ask the AI Analyst a question like the average and median revenue for each product category. Its docs say to name the exact column and calculation, and to ask one step at a time for multi-step work.
The AI lives in the cells too: Rows describes typing = in a cell and describing what you need, plus tools that forecast, find outliers, classify text into tags and turn PDFs or images into tables. If an AI step goes wrong you can roll back to a checkpoint. Rows lists a free-forever plan with no trial or card, with a monthly cap on AI tasks.
In a real lesson: Analyze a Spreadsheet with ChatGPT: Upload a CSV, Get a Chart and Three Takeaways
The Analyze a Spreadsheet lesson teaches the habit that keeps AI answers about data honest: check the file before you analyze it, then ask for monthly totals, the category that grew most, a chart and three takeaways, each backed by a number.
The same habit applies in Rows. Ask the AI Analyst to confirm the row count and the date range first, then ask your real question one step at a time, and spot-check one total by hand.

Common confusions
AI Analyst vs an AI cell
The AI Analyst is a side panel you chat with about the sheet. An AI cell is a single cell that runs the prompt you type in it.
Rows vs Google Sheets
Both are online spreadsheets. Rows builds the AI Analyst and data connectors in, where Google Sheets relies on add-ons and Gemini.
Tips
- Name the exact column and calculation in every question.
- Ask one step at a time and check each result.
- Use checkpoints to roll back an AI change you do not want.
