Why this course

Make is a visual automation tool: each scenario is a row of modules on a canvas, and you can see exactly where the data goes. That makes it a good place to learn automation, and its entry price is low. The skill that matters is the same in any tool: a trigger starts it, actions do the jobs, and data mapping carries the details from one module to the next.

This course goes in that order. You learn the ideas on a plain diagram, build your first scenario from a Google Form to Google Sheets, split urgent and routine requests with filters and routers, and send a daily summary on a schedule. Then you decide where AI belongs, add the OpenAI module so ChatGPT writes a personal reply that Signatoro signs, and finish with webhooks so a website form starts the scenario. What you’ll build

  • Module 2: You read the recipe behind a new client inquiry automation for Harbor Lane Bookkeeping (made up): one trigger and two actions. Then you map five fields from the form data into an "Add a row" action, fix a box that has words typed into it, run a test and check the new row.
  • Module 6: You sort six jobs for Harbor Lane Bookkeeping (made up) into plain rules, AI steps and human decisions. Then you walk through one AI automation from top to bottom: a trigger, one small AI step that picks a label and drafts a reply, a rule that acts on the label, a person who approves, and an action that saves a draft.
  1. Module 1 · Stepthrough · Beginner · ~2 min

    Start Here: How Stepthrough Works

Welcome to Stepthrough: you learn AI by doing it, on practice copies of real app screens, free and with no risk to your real accounts. Your first practice takes under two minutes.

  2. Module 2 · Automation basics · Beginner · ~6 min

Automation Basics: Triggers, Actions and Data Mapping

A new client fills in the contact form on your website. Someone copies the name, email and message into a spreadsheet, then emails the person who handles new clients. It takes five minutes, and on a busy day it does not happen at all.

  3. Module 3 · Make · Intermediate · ~12 min

Your First Make Scenario: Google Form to Google Sheets

Build your first Make.com scenario: every new Google Forms response becomes a new row in Google Sheets. Trigger, connection, mapping, Run once and a schedule.

  4. Module 4 · Make · Intermediate · ~12 min

Filters and Routers in Make: Urgent Requests One Way, Routine Ones Another

Add a router to your Make scenario, email the front desk about urgent requests with a filter, and send everything else to Google Sheets with a fallback route.

  5. Module 5 · Make · Intermediate · ~12 min

On a Schedule: A Daily Summary Email from a Sheet

Build a Make scenario that runs every day at 5 PM, finds today's rows in Google Sheets, combines them with a Text aggregator and emails one summary with Gmail.

  6. Module 6 · Automation basics · Beginner · ~6 min

When to Add AI to an Automation (n8n, Make or Zapier)

Once people see AI write an email, they want it in every step. That is how a cheap, reliable automation turns into one that costs money on every run and sometimes makes things up. The opposite mistake is just as common: a team keeps sorting client emails by hand because a keyword rule keeps missing the ones that are worded oddly.

  7. Module 7 · Make · Intermediate · ~18 min

Add AI to Make: ChatGPT Writes a Personal Reply, Gmail Sends It

Connect OpenAI to your Make scenario, have ChatGPT write a personal reply from each patient's form answers, add the sender's real Signatoro signature, and send it with Gmail.

  8. Module 8 · Make · Advanced · ~12 min

Webhooks: Connect a Website Form to Make

Start a Make scenario with a Custom webhook, paste its URL into your website form's webhook setting, send a test so Make learns the fields, and save every request to Google Sheets the moment it arrives.

Yes. All 8 modules of AI Automation with Make are free, and you can start module 1 without signing up.

How long does AI Automation with Make take?

About 1.5 hours of hands-on practice across 8 modules, beginner to advanced. Each module takes 2 to 18 minutes, so you can do one at a time.

Which tools will I practice in?

Automation basics and Make. You practice in a copy of each tool's real screens that checks every step, so nothing touches your real accounts, and no coding is needed.

Who is AI Automation with Make for?

Office managers, operations staff and owners who want visual, low-cost automation with AI steps. No coding.

Where do I start?

Start with module 1, Start Here: How Stepthrough Works. The modules are in order, so each one builds on the last.

Is this Make.com automation course free?

Yes. Every module and practice is free. To repeat them in your own account you need a free Make account, a Google account, and for the AI module an OpenAI API key, which is billed separately from ChatGPT plans.

Do I need to code to use Make?

No. You build scenarios by adding modules and clicking items from earlier modules into later ones. The webhook module uses a URL you copy and paste, not code.

What is Signatoro in the AI module?

Signatoro keeps each person's email signature in one place. In module 7, ChatGPT writes the reply and an HTTP module fetches the sender's real signature from Signatoro, so the AI never signs anything itself.

What do I need before I start AI Automation with Make?

Only a web browser for the practice: it runs in a copy of each tool's screens, so you need no account and no sign-up to start module 1. It helps to take AI Automation with n8n: From First Workflow to AI Agents first.
