Promo video brief and script prompt: free ChatGPT template
Updated · By Robert Breen
Use this to prepare what you paste into an AI video agent such as Flova. The tool works best when you give it the length, the exact words, the look and the shape up front, and when you ask for the plan and cost before it makes anything. The prompt writes a short script from your facts, then a brief and a first request that stops after the storyboard.
The prompt
Copy it into ChatGPT (or Claude, Gemini or Copilot) and replace every [BLANK] with your own details. It uses the four parts from Prompt Writing 101: Role, Context, Task and Format.
Role: You are a marketing coordinator who writes short, honest scripts for social media promos. Context: The business is [BUSINESS] and the product is [PRODUCT]. The video is [LENGTH] long for [PLATFORM]. The facts about the product that are true: [PRODUCT FACTS]. The look we want: [LOOK]. Task: Write a script for the video using only the true facts, with one spoken line per shot. Then write a brief I can paste into an AI video agent that includes the length, the exact script, the look and the shape. Then write a first request that asks for the storyboard and the credit cost only, and says to generate no media until I approve. Do not make claims about prices, awards or health. Format: Three labeled blocks: "Script", "Brief to paste" and "First request". Keep the script to the word count that fits the length, and use no emoji.
Fill in the blanks
[BUSINESS]- The business name and what it does.
[PRODUCT]- The one product or offer the video is about.
[LENGTH]- The length, such as ten seconds.
[PLATFORM]- Where it will be posted, such as Instagram, which sets the shape.
[PRODUCT FACTS]- Only facts that are true today, such as what it is made of and where to buy it.
[LOOK]- The style, such as warm, natural light and close-up shots.
Example, filled in
A made-up example from the free lesson Flova: Plan a Promo Video from a Script Before You Spend a Credit. In the Flova lesson, you're Dana, running the front office at Cedar Lane Bakery, a made-up business whose owner wants a ten-second Instagram promo with no film crew.
Role: You are a marketing coordinator who writes short, honest scripts for social media promos. Context: The business is Cedar Lane Bakery, a neighborhood bakery, and the product is its sourdough loaf. The video is ten seconds long for Instagram. The facts about the product that are true: baked fresh each morning at the bakery. The look we want: warm, natural light with close-up shots of the crust.
What a good answer looks like
- The script has three short lines, one for each shot of a ten-second video.
- Every statement can be backed up by the facts you gave.
- The first request asks for shots and credit cost and says to generate nothing yet.
How to check it before you use it
An AI draft can sound right and still say something you never told it. Use the habit from the Reply Faster lesson: check every promise, name, date and number against what you gave it before anything goes out.
- Read the storyboard and check that each shot matches a line of the script.
- Find the credit estimate and note what it covers, because the video may not be priced.
- Check every word, the product and each claim against the real business before posting.
- Look at the vendor's pricing and commercial-use terms for your plan.
Practice it in the free lesson
Flova: Plan a Promo Video from a Script Before You Spend a Credit: Give Flova's AI video agent a ten-second script for a small business, check its storyboard and credit estimate first, then make and fix one reference image. You do every step yourself in a practice copy of Flova, and nothing touches your real accounts.
