The workflow comes from ProLevelMax's founder and is shared in the lesson's keyword monitor section. The API key in it is a placeholder, YOUR_PROLEVELMAX_KEY, so nothing works until you add your own.
What is inside the template?
Opening the JSON shows five items: a sticky note and four nodes, wired left to right.
| Node | Type | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sticky Note: overview and setup | Sticky note | Explains the shutdown, the five setup steps and the cost |
| Every day | Schedule Trigger | Runs every 24 hours |
| Search Reddit (ProLevelMax) | HTTP Request | POST to https://prolevelmax.com/v1/run with the Post search source |
| One item per post | Split Out | Splits the response's items into one item per post |
| Map to RSS-style fields | Edit Fields | Renames the post fields to RSS-style names |
The HTTP Request node carries a note of its own: one call per run, $0.003, and a reminder to replace the key and the keyword.
What does the search request send?
The body asks the Post search source (procli_reddit_d) for posts only, newest first, from the last day, in the formatted shape:
{"scraper": "procli_reddit_d", "input": {"query": "\"your keyword\"", "search_type": "post", "sort": "NEW", "time_range": "day", "need_format": true}}
Two details matter. time_range is day, which matches the daily schedule, so each run looks at the last day of posts. And need_format is true, which gives you the post fields in the shape the mapping step expects. The lesson's main workflow uses the Subreddit feed source instead, with a different body, shown below.

How are the fields mapped?
The Edit Fields node sets five fields from each post:
| RSS-style field | Expression |
|---|---|
| title | {{ $json.post.postTitle }} |
| link | {{ $json.post.url }} |
| published | {{ $json.post.createdAt }} |
| score | {{ $json.post.score }} |
| comments | {{ $json.post.commentCount }} |
That mapping is the whole trick. Nodes that read {{ $json.title }} or {{ $json.link }} from the old RSS feed keep finding what they expect.
How do I set it up?
The sticky note says about 5 minutes. In order:
- Create a ProLevelMax account and verify your email. New users get $1 of free credit.
- In the ProLevelMax console, open API keys and create a key.
- Download the template, open the file, copy everything and paste it onto an n8n canvas with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.
- Open Search Reddit (ProLevelMax) and replace
YOUR_PROLEVELMAX_KEYin the Authorization header with your key. Better still, move the key into a credential so it doesn't sit in the workflow, as the lesson does with Bearer Auth. - In the same node, change
your keywordin the JSON body. - Connect your existing Slack, Sheets or AI nodes after Map to RSS-style fields.
- Run it once by hand, check the output, then turn it on.
Try it free, step by step
ProLevelMax in n8n: Keep Your Reddit Workflow Alive After the RSS Shutdown. Reddit switches off its RSS feeds on November 13. Swap the RSS Read node in your n8n workflow for one HTTP Request node that pulls the newest subreddit posts from ProLevelMax, then let AI sum up… You do every step yourself in a practice copy of n8n, it checks your work as you go, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on. Free, and nothing touches your real accounts.
Start the free lessonWhy move the key out of the header?
As shipped, the key sits in a header value inside the node. That is convenient for a quick paste, but anyone who sees the workflow, an export or a screenshot sees the key. An n8n credential stores it encrypted and adds it for you. The lesson uses Generic Credential Type with Bearer Auth; the sticky note mentions Header Auth as an alternative. Either way, the API key is out of sight. More on that in ProLevelMax mistakes and fixes.
How can I adapt the template?
- Several keywords: duplicate the HTTP Request node, one per keyword, and merge the results, or run one copy of the workflow per keyword.
- A subreddit instead of a keyword: switch the body to the Subreddit feed source (
procli_reddit_c) withsubreddit_nameandsort, as in the lesson. - Add AI: connect an AI Agent after the mapping step, with the lesson's system message: answer only from the posts, 3 to 5 themes, short quotes with links.
- Keep a log: append each mapped post to a Google Sheet to build a history you can count later.
For ideas on who runs which version, see Reddit monitoring use cases by role.
What does it cost to run?
Each daily search is one call. At $0.003 per call (19 October 2026) that is about 9 cents a month per keyword. Check prolevelmax.com/pricing and the ProLevelMax directory entry before you rely on it.
Key takeaways
- Four nodes: daily schedule, ProLevelMax search, split out, map to RSS-style fields.
- Replace
YOUR_PROLEVELMAX_KEYandyour keywordbefore the first run. - The mapping keeps
title, link, published, scoreandcomments, so later nodes don't change. - Move the key into a credential, and run it once by hand before you turn it on.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the template free?
Yes. The workflow file is free to download. ProLevelMax charges per call from your own balance.
- Does it need an AI model?
No. It only searches and maps posts. Add an AI Agent after it if you want summaries.
- Why do I get no posts on some days?
time_rangeisday, so a quiet keyword can return nothing. That is normal; try a broader keyword.- Can I import it into n8n Cloud and self-hosted n8n?
The lesson pastes it onto an n8n canvas. It uses standard nodes: Schedule Trigger, HTTP Request, Split Out and Edit Fields.
- Where are all the settings on one page?
On the ProLevelMax cheat sheet, and more answers are in the ProLevelMax Reddit API FAQ.
