Frase: Turn One Keyword Into a Brief and a Ranking-Ready Draft

FraseBeginner~10 min practice41 steps

Why this matters

An article that ranks usually starts with hours of reading the pages that already rank: their headings, the questions they answer and the numbers they cite. Small marketing teams skip it, and the post never shows up.

Frase does that reading for you. From one search phrase it built a brief in about four minutes and a 900-word draft in about two more. It also drifted to the wrong reader and left the main phrase out of the text, so this lesson builds in the checks.

Practice

Do every step yourself in a practice copy of the real tool. It checks your work, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on.

What you’ll build

Prefer to watch? The short video tour
The Frase editor with a draft on AI training for employees and the Score panel showing EEAT 45, GEO 81 and SEO 80

You run marketing at a small online training company. You turn the search AI training for employees into a researched brief, fix the brief before Frase writes, then read the SEO, GEO and EEAT scores and fix what they miss.

The screens are real screenshots from a Frase trial account, captured November 2026. We used our own site, Stepthrough, and published nothing.

What you need

  • Nothing to start the practiceThe lesson is a practice copy of the real Frase screens.
  • A Frase account, to do it for realFrase lists a 7-day free trial. Our trial showed 5 articles remaining, and clicking Write used one. Check the current plans.
  • Your website and one search phraseFrase asks for a site before Content or Research will open. Pick the phrase your buyers type, not your product name.

Concepts

Fix the brief, not the draft

We asked for office managers at small businesses. The brief listed HR managers, operations directors, L&D specialists and corporate trainers, and its first section told the writer to focus on the engineering workforce.

A minute in the brief saves an hour in the draft. Check the audience, reject facts that do not fit, and remove outline points before you click Write.

Blocked us means unchecked

Only one of four key facts was marked Verified. The other three said blocked us: the source site refused Frase, so it could not check the quote. Rejecting one fact also left it listed under Evidence to include, though the draft did not use it.

Open every blocked source yourself before you publish a number.

The score is a guide, not the goal

The first draft scored 69 while its title promised 5 steps and gave 4, and the main phrase appeared 0 times in the text. Fixing both with Ask AI moved the score to 67.

EEAT was the lowest score at 45, mostly because the author profile was 13% complete. Add a real author and first-hand experience. AI cannot add what your team actually saw.

Do it for real

Now repeat it in your own account. Tick each step as you go.

Quick check

3 questions to check you’ve got it.

1. You asked for office managers, and the brief lists HR managers and corporate trainers. When should you fix it?

  • Before you click Write
  • After the draft is written
  • Only if the score is under 70
Show the answer

Before you click Write. The brief decides what the draft says. Fixing it first is a minute; rewriting 900 words for the wrong reader is not.

2. A key fact is marked blocked us. What does that mean?

  • Frase could not open the source to check it
  • The fact is false
  • The fact is verified
Show the answer

Frase could not open the source to check it. The source site refused Frase’s request. The fact may be right, but nobody has checked it yet, so open it yourself.

3. You fix a title that promised 5 steps and gave 4, and the score drops from 69 to 67. What now?

  • Keep the fix
  • Undo it to get the points back
  • Ask AI to raise the score
Show the answer

Keep the fix. The score is a guide. A broken promise in the title costs you more with readers than two points.
