Why this matters
Every small team has a task someone explains by hand, again and again: adding a client to the portal, filing an expense, setting up a new hire. Each walkthrough takes an hour, comes out a little different every time, and the questions keep coming for weeks.
Clueso turns screen recordings of a process into a narrated, branded training video and a step-by-step help article. You upload the recording, start from the prompt box with it as the source and describe the training you want, so a messy first take with a wrong turn in it is good enough.
Practice
Do every step yourself in a practice copy of the real tool. It checks your work, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on.
What you’ll build
You help Dana Ortiz, operations lead at Northgate Benefits Group, a made-up benefits broker that teaches every new account manager how to add a client in its portal by hand.
You upload her rough 33-second recording and see that Clueso narrates her wrong turn when it only has the clicks. Then you start from the prompt box with the recording as the source, pick Plan, brief a training video that leaves the detour out, with the steps, a voiceover and Northgate's navy branding, approve the plan, and open the finished video and the step-by-step article from the same project.
What you need
- Nothing to start the practiceThe lesson is a practice copy built from real Clueso screens. Northgate, its portal and its clients are made up.
- A Clueso account, to do it for realClueso's site says it has a free plan with no credit card required. Check Clueso's pricing page for what each plan includes.
- Screen recordings of the processUpload videos you already have (.mp4, .mov, .wav or .webm), or record with Clueso. One task per recording keeps the steps clean.
- Your brand colors (or a Brand kit or Clueprint)Clueso only knows your branding if you put it in the prompt, or add a Brand kit or a saved Clueprint with + in the prompt box.
- A test client, or a plan to blurRecord with made-up data where you can. Otherwise, blur emails, names and account numbers in every screenshot before you share.
Concepts
The recording is the source
Start with Prompt is the box on Clueso's home screen, What are we creating today? Add your recording as the source (with + and Add Project, or Attach files) and Clueso works from what you really did on screen: your clicks become the steps.
From the clicks alone, Clueso narrated a wrong turn into Reports as if it were a step. Your prompt decides which clicks count, so stumbles and detours are cheap. Re-record only when the clicks themselves were wrong.
Write the brief, not just the topic
A good prompt says what you want, who it is for and how it should look and sound: clear steps, a zoom on each click, a plain-English voiceover, your brand colors, and the step-by-step article too.
There is no length or tone setting: say both in the prompt. Pick Plan mode so Clueso shows its plan and script before it spends the build, then approve it. A vague prompt means more editing later.
One project, two formats
The same project holds the training video and a step-by-step article: one step per click, each with a screenshot. Some people want to watch; others want to skim and copy.
Ask for the article in the same prompt and Clueso rebuilds it with the video. Watch the video and read every step before you share. AI can make mistakes, and screenshots can show client data, so blur it in the screenshot editor.
Do it for real
Now repeat it in your own account. Tick each step as you go.
Quick check
3 questions to check you’ve got it.
1. You uploaded your screen recording. What do you add before you write the prompt?
- Nothing, Clueso finds it on its own
- The recording, as the source, with + and Add Project
- A blank project
Show the answer
The recording, as the source, with + and Add Project. The recording is the source: Clueso builds the steps from what you did on screen, so attach it before you send the prompt.
2. Which prompt gets you the most usable training video?
- Make a video about our portal
- A video for new account managers on adding a client: clear steps, a zoom on each click, a plain-English voiceover, our navy and white branding, plus the help article
- Make it good
Show the answer
A video for new account managers on adding a client: clear steps, a zoom on each click, a plain-English voiceover, our navy and white branding, plus the help article. Say what you want, who it is for and how it should look and sound. Clueso doesn't know your brand colors unless you tell it.
3. A screenshot in the article shows a client's email. What is the right fix?
- Blur it in the screenshot editor and save
- Add a note asking readers to ignore it
- Delete the whole article
Show the answer
Blur it in the screenshot editor and save. The Blur tool covers the area and Save edits makes it permanent, so readers can't see what was underneath.
