n8n 2.43 and 2.44: Browser Use for Everyone, Agent Budgets and a Setup Checklist for Agents
Building an AI agent in n8n got safer and easier this month: you can set usage and budget limits, and a checklist tells you what is left to set up.
What happened
n8n released version 2.43 on October 6, 2026, with 25 features; its release notes say Browser Use in the n8n Assistant is now available to all users, and agents get usage and budget settings. Version 2.43 also adds a deployment dropdown to the Azure OpenAI Chat Model node, a Job resource on the Databricks node and OAuth2 credentials for the Supabase node. n8n 2.44 followed on October 13, 2026, with 19 features: the agent builder adds a "Finish setup" checklist, and each input of an agent’s workflow tool can be AI-filled, fixed or an expression. Version 2.44 also adds Google Vertex AI credentials with a project picker and a connection test, and relabels the Azure OpenAI nodes as Microsoft Foundry, with the old names still searchable. On October 14, at its In The Loop conference, n8n also introduced a new logo, typeface and color system. Source: n8n Docs: Release notes (October 13, 2026).
Who gets it, and what it costs
- n8n Cloud: the features arrive with these versions; check which version your instance runs.
- Self-hosted: update your instance to 2.43 or 2.44 (later patch releases are out too).
- Agent budgets and the setup checklist: in the agent builder, once you are on these versions.
No price change is listed in the release notes. The features come with the n8n versions above on your current plan.
What it means for an office team
The basic case is the AI agent an office team builds to book calls or answer questions from a sheet. The worry is always cost and loose ends: the new usage and budget settings give you a place to control what the agent uses, and the "Finish setup" checklist shows what is still missing before you switch it on.
Fixed tool inputs matter too. If your agent writes to a Google Sheet, set the sheet and tab as fixed inputs so the AI only fills in the values it should, not where they go.
