Why this matters
A website contact form treats a 30-day visa deadline the same as a general question. If it arrives on Friday night, it can wait until Monday, and that person may call another firm first.
A short intake chat asks about the deadline up front, tells the person what happens next and alerts the firm. Landbot AI Copilot drafts it from a plain-language brief, and you stay responsible for every word.
Practice
Do every step yourself in a practice copy of the real tool. It checks your work, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on.
What you’ll build

You help run a made-up three-lawyer immigration firm. You answer Copilot's questions, read its generic first draft and give it the real brief, including what it must never do.
Then you test the urgent path as a visitor, fix a firm name Copilot said it had fixed, and add an email alert. The screens are real screenshots from my own Landbot trial, captured October 2026.
What you need
- Nothing to start the practiceThe lesson is a practice copy. The firm and the visitor are made up.
- A Landbot account, to do it for realThe pricing page lists a 14-day trial with no card, then a Free plan with 100 chats a month and no AI chats. Check the current plans.
Concepts
Ask the question that sets the priority
Copilot's first draft asked about budget and never asked about a deadline, because it did not know your business. Your brief fixes that: what they need, how soon, how to reach them, and what to say on each path.
For a law firm, the deadline answer decides who hears about it and how quickly. Promise only what the office can really do, because the chat says it to everyone who picks that button.
Fixed questions can not give legal advice
The flow in this lesson is a set of buttons and questions, so it can only say the words you approved. It also says up front that the chat does not give legal advice. Copilot suggested adding an AI block, which would write its own answers, and for a law firm that is a much bigger decision.
Have a lawyer read every line before it goes on your site. Your state bar may have rules on advertising and on when someone becomes a client, and this lesson does not cover those.
Done is a claim, so look
Copilot said the chat header had changed. After a reload, it still showed the misspelled name from its first guess, and the Design tab still held the old text. Later, Copilot said it had added an email alert, and the boxes really were in the flow.
You can not tell which is which from the message. Preview chats also do not count: after a full test, the agent list showed 0 chats and Contacts was empty. Test the published agent once, all the way to the alert in your inbox.
Do it for real
Now repeat it in your own account. Tick each step as you go.
Quick check
3 questions to check you’ve got it.
1. Why does the intake chat ask about the deadline before anything else about the case?
- It decides how quickly the firm needs to respond
- Landbot requires a date field
- It lets the chat give legal advice
Show the answer
It decides how quickly the firm needs to respond. A person with a 30-day deadline gets a different promise and an urgent alert.
2. Copilot says it changed the header. What should you do?
- Look at the preview and the Design tab yourself
- Move on, since it said done
- Ask it again until it agrees
Show the answer
Look at the preview and the Design tab yourself. In our test it said done, and the old name was still there after a reload. We fixed it in Design, then Layout.
3. You finish a full test in the Live chat preview. What did we find in the agent list?
- It still showed 0 chats
- It added one lead to Contacts
- It emailed the firm automatically
Show the answer
It still showed 0 chats. Preview chats were not recorded, so test the published agent once before you trust it.
