Workday: Sana Becomes the Home Screen, and a Concierge Agent Takes HR and IT Requests

Staff can ask for time off, payroll answers or a password reset in plain words and get routed to the right agent or person, with approvals still in human hands.

What happened

On October 13, 2026, at Workday Rising, Workday announced that Sana is the new Workday Home, one screen that brings together tasks, decisions, meetings and agent activity. Employees make requests in natural language, and Sana coordinates Workday agents to complete the work. Workday says people are brought in when judgment or approval is required. Sana Concierge is a new HR and IT service agent for requests such as onboarding, offboarding, leave and payroll questions, password resets and application access. When human judgment is needed it hands the case history and recommended next steps to a specialist. Workday Home is available now, and business administrators decide when to turn it on, including whether it becomes the default. Sana Concierge is available to early adopter customers and is expected to be generally available in the first calendar quarter of 2027. Who gets it, and what it costs

Workday gives no price in its announcement. Ask your Workday account team what is included in your contract.

What it means for an office team

The most basic use is the employee question that lands in HR or IT all day: how many vacation days do I have, when does payroll run, I am locked out. Ask in plain words, get the answer or the right form, and have a person step in when the case needs judgment.

Treat it as a front door, not a decision maker. Decide who approves what before you switch it on, check the answers against your own handbook, and keep a person on the cases that involve pay, leave or access. Some of the results Workday cites are its own claims and are not independently checked.

How to try it

  1. Ask your Workday administrator whether Sana as Workday Home is switched on. It is available now, and an administrator chooses when to enable it.
  2. Ask your Workday account team whether you can join the early adopters for Sana Concierge, which is expected to be generally available in Q1 2027, and what is included in your contract. Workday gives no price.
  3. Test it on the questions HR and IT get all day, such as vacation days, payroll dates and a locked account, and check the answers against your own handbook.
  4. Decide who approves what before you switch it on, and keep a person on cases about pay, leave or access.
