Mixo: Launch a Landing Page and Collect Early Sign-ups

MixoBeginner~12 min practice17 steps

Why this matters

Most small firms build a new service first and find out later whether anyone wants it. That can cost weeks of work on something nobody buys.

Mixo builds a one-page website from a one-sentence idea. With a sign-up box on it, the page tells you how many people want the service before you build it.

Practice

Do every step yourself in a practice copy of the real tool. It checks your work, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on.

What you’ll build

You help Nora Okafor, who runs Lakeshore Ledger, a made-up bookkeeping firm that wants to test a monthly Cash-Flow Check-in service.

You describe the idea to Mixo in one sentence, generate the site, try another style, save it, rewrite the headline, turn the button into a sign-up form with a clear label, add a logo and color, save and publish it, and find the subscriber list and its CSV download. The Mixo screens are screenshots from Mixo's own help center, credited and linked under each one.

What you need

  • Nothing to start the practiceThe lesson uses Mixo's own help-center screenshots. Lakeshore Ledger and every number are made up.
  • A Mixo account, to do it for realMixo's help center says the free plan lets you create, edit and publish a one-page site on a Mixo address. Check mixo.io/pricing for paid plans.
  • One sentence about your new serviceWho it is for, what they get, and who runs it.
  • A goal and a deadlineFor example, 20 sign-ups in 3 weeks. Decide it before you share the link.

Concepts

One specific sentence

Mixo builds the first draft from the sentence you type. Mixo's tutorial says to word it as a business idea and be specific: "an online hairdressing service" works better than "haircare".

Then read every line it wrote and rewrite the headline so it says what the customer gets.

A sign-up form, not a button

In the Hero section, Primary Button and Signup Form cannot both be on. Tick Show Signup Form and give the button a clear label, such as "Join the early list".

Each sign-up lands on your Mixo dashboard under Recent Subscribers, and you get an email notification.

Save is private, Publish is public

Save keeps your changes in your account. Publish makes the saved version live, and later changes only go live when you publish again.

Do it for real

Now repeat it in your own account. Tick each step as you go.

Quick check

3 questions to check you’ve got it.

1. Why put a sign-up form on the page instead of a Call Us button?

  • Forms look nicer
  • Each email is a countable sign of interest you can follow up
  • Mixo does not allow buttons
Show the answer

Each email is a countable sign of interest you can follow up. The sign-ups are the test. They land on your dashboard, so you can count them against your goal and reply to each person.

2. You clicked Save. Can visitors see the new headline?

  • Yes, straight away
  • No, not until you click Publish
  • Only on mobile
Show the answer

No, not until you click Publish. Save keeps your changes private. Publish puts them live.

3. Which idea sentence will give Mixo the best first draft?

  • Bookkeeping
  • A monthly cash-flow check-in service for small business owners, run by a bookkeeping firm
  • Website please
Show the answer

A monthly cash-flow check-in service for small business owners, run by a bookkeeping firm. Mixo's tutorial says the more specific the idea, the better the result. Name the service, the customer and who runs it.
