Make Images with ChatGPT for Your Business

ChatGPTBeginner~7 min practice24 steps

Why this matters

Small offices need simple graphics all the time: a sale poster, a tax-deadline reminder for social media, a flyer for a free workshop. There is rarely a designer on staff, a freelancer takes days, and a template site still eats an hour.

ChatGPT can draw a finished-looking poster from your logo and a short brief in about a minute. The catch is that AI images still get text wrong, and a poster with the wrong date is worse than no poster.

In this module you learn the loop that makes images safe to post: a brief with the exact words in quotes, a word-by-word proofread, one fix at a time, a resize for Stories, and a caption from the same chat.

What you’ll build

An Instagram poster for a fall mum sale at Fern & Stone Garden Center, a made-up shop, with its own logo top left: "FALL MUM SALE", a "3 pots for $25" ribbon, the dates and the address.

The first draft gets the date wrong and adds a chalkboard sign nobody asked for. You fix the date with a comment pin and remove the sign with Describe edits, compare versions in the strip, make a tall 9:16 Story version with Resize, and have the same chat write a short caption with three local hashtags.

What you need

  • Nothing to start the practiceChatGPT is a practice copy, and the shop’s logo is already in a practice Pictures folder.
  • A ChatGPT account, to do it for realEvery plan can make images, with lower and slower limits on Free.
  • Your logo as a PNG or JPGYour website’s header image, your email signature or the files from whoever designed it. A PNG with a clear background works best.
  • The exact words for the posterHeadline, offer, date, address and hours, typed out and checked before you start. The download has the lesson’s brief and a fill-in version.

Concepts

4 ideas you’ll use in the practice.

Logo first, then a brief

Attach your logo so ChatGPT does not invent one. Then write a brief: what it is for, the exact words in quotes, what the picture shows, the style, and "No other text".

Quoted words and "No other text" are the two lines that stop made-up dates and extra signs.

Proofread it like print

AI images look finished before they are right. Read the date, the price, the address and every other word, and look for anything that was not in the brief.

Fix one thing at a time

Drop a comment pin on the wrong part and say what to change, or type it in the Describe edits box. End with "keep everything else the same".

Without that line ChatGPT may redraw the whole poster, and you lose the parts that were right. The version strip lets you compare and go back.

One brief, two formats

Resize turns the poster into a tall Story version without a second design job. Then ask the same chat for the caption, because it already knows the date, the price and the address.

Do not use real people’s faces without their OK, and do not copy other brands’ logos or characters.

Practice

Do every step yourself in a practice copy of the real tool. It checks your work, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on.

Quick check

3 questions to check you’ve got it.

1. Which two lines in a brief stop most text mistakes?

  • The exact words in quotes, and "No other text"
  • "Make it pop" and "Be creative"
  • A long list of colors
Show the answer

The exact words in quotes, and "No other text". Quoted words tell it exactly what to write, and "No other text" stops it adding its own.

2. The date on the poster is wrong. How do you fix it?

  • Ask for a whole new poster
  • Pin a comment on the date with the right one, and add "keep everything else the same"
  • Post it and fix it in the caption
Show the answer

Pin a comment on the date with the right one, and add "keep everything else the same". Fixing one part keeps everything that was already right.

3. You need a tall version for Stories. What do you use?

  • A new brief from scratch
  • Resize, then proofread the new version
  • Crop a screenshot
Show the answer

Resize, then proofread the new version. Resize reuses the same design. Proofread it again, because every version can change.
