AI Content Pipeline: Blog Post Drafts from a Topic List

Most businesses know they should blog more, and most never get past the topic list. This upcoming Stepthrough module will show you how to turn a list of topics into blog post drafts with n8n: the AI writes and formats each one, then queues it for you to review. It is coming soon.

What you will build (coming soon)

In this module you will build a content pipeline in n8n. You keep a simple list of topics. The workflow picks up each new one, has AI write a first draft following your brand guidelines, formats it with a title, headings and a short summary, and puts it in a review queue.

Nothing is published automatically. The pipeline's job is to get you from a blank page to a solid draft, and yours is to edit and approve it.

Picture a lawn care company with a list like "when to aerate your lawn," "how often to mow in summer" and "signs of grub damage." Each topic gets a draft written to the same structure and voice, ready for the owner to add local detail and photos.

Who this is for

This module is planned for owners, marketers and small agencies who want a steady flow of blog content without writing every post from scratch. It will suit anyone who has a list of post ideas sitting in a notes app. Service businesses often have the best raw material already: the questions customers ask on the phone every week make excellent blog topics, and answering them well can help new customers find you.

It will build on skills from earlier modules: the system prompt and Google Sheets tool from the n8n AI agent module, the schedule trigger from Daily Job Alerts, and the Role, Context, Task and Format structure from Prompt Writing 101.

What the module will cover

The exact steps are still being built, but the plan is:

• Setting up a topic list with columns for the topic, target reader, key points and status.
• Triggering the workflow on a schedule so it checks for topics marked ready.
• Writing a drafting prompt with your voice, length, structure and what to avoid.
• Formatting each draft with a title, headings and a short summary.
• Saving the draft where you review it and updating the topic's status so nothing is written twice.
• Testing it end to end on a few sample topics.

Why a pipeline beats one-off prompting

You can already ask ChatGPT for a blog post. The trouble is doing it consistently. Every time you start a new chat you retype your guidelines, and every post comes out a little different. A pipeline writes your rules down once, applies them to every topic, and keeps track of what has been done. The status column is what keeps it from repeating itself.

Putting a person at the end of the pipeline matters. AI drafts need a human eye for facts, examples from your real work and anything that sounds off. The pipeline saves the hours of first drafting so you can spend your time on the part only you can do.

Formatting is part of the job, not an afterthought. Asking for a set structure, such as a title, a short intro, three to five headings and a summary, makes every draft quicker to review because you always know where to look. It also makes the posts easier to read once they are live.

How you will use it in your business

Add topics whenever customers ask a good question. A few times a week, open your review queue, edit the drafts, add your own examples and publish the ones you are happy with. The same pipeline can produce newsletter sections, product descriptions or FAQ pages with a different prompt.

Start small. Run five topics through, see which drafts needed the most editing, and tighten the prompt where they went wrong. Most of the quality comes from the drafting prompt, so a little time spent there pays off on every post after it.

What you will need

• An n8n account and an OpenAI API key with some credit. The n8n AI agent module shows you how to set both up.
• A Google account for the topic list and the review queue.
• A starter list of topics, ideally questions your customers really ask.
• Your brand guidelines, or at least a few notes on tone, length and words to avoid. The Prompt Writing 101 module helps you turn those into a clear prompt.

Is this course really free?

Yes. Stepthrough is completely free, and the practice copy needs no accounts. To build it for real you need your own n8n, OpenAI and Google accounts, and some of those cost money once you use them for real work.

Will the posts be published automatically?

No. The pipeline is designed to queue drafts for review. You edit and publish them yourself.

Is AI-written blog content good for SEO?

Drafts are a starting point. Posts tend to do better when a person adds real examples, checks facts and makes sure they answer what readers actually search for.
