If you spend your day typing emails, notes and messages, this tool lets you speak instead and get clean, punctuated text in whatever app you are already using.

## What happened

Wispr Flow (wisprflow.ai) is a voice-to-text tool with two products: Dictation, which types what you say into any app where you can type, and Notetaker, which records meetings and writes a transcript, summary and next steps. The site says Dictation removes filler words, adds punctuation and formats the text, works “anywhere you can type, with no plugins required,” learns custom vocabulary, supports text snippets and can adjust style for different apps. Dictation runs on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android and supports 100+ languages; Notetaker is Mac and Windows only, and covers Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack huddles and in-person meetings. On security, the site says “your data is never sold,” lets users choose whether their data helps improve the product, and lists SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and ISO 27001. Its headline says it is “4x faster than your keyboard,” and the site’s own demo compares 45 words per minute typing with 220 spoken; those are the company’s claims, not independent measurements. ## Who gets it, and what it costs

- **Free plan:** 2,000 words a week on desktop and 1,000 a week on mobile, plus limited Notetaker access with a weekly meeting limit. The site says no credit card is needed.
- **Pro and above:** Pro has unlimited dictation and higher meeting limits. Growth adds SSO and admin tools, and Enterprise adds SCIM, MDM and audit logs.
- **Free trial:** the pricing page mentions no trial; the Free plan is the way to try it. It also lists 50% off Pro for students and educators with an education email.
- **Platforms:** Dictation on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. Notetaker on Mac and Windows.

Free plan, then Pro at $15 a month or $12 a month billed annually, and Growth and Enterprise tiers above that, as listed on Wispr Flow’s pricing page on October 16, 2026. The page shows two prices for Growth without labeling them, so confirm the one you are charged.

## What it means for an office team

The problem is simple: first drafts of emails, notes and updates take longer to type than to say. Wispr Flow’s pitch is that you talk, and it hands back text that already has punctuation and sensible formatting, in the app you are working in.

A good first use is replying to email. Speak the points you want to make, let the tool clean them up, then read the result before you send. Voice tools can mishear names, numbers and product terms, so check those every time, and think about who is allowed to hear what before you dictate anything confidential or record a meeting. Tell people when you are recording.

## Try it: the stepthrough

This is Stepthrough’s own practice lesson, built from real Wispr Flow screens recorded on Windows in October 2026. You hold one key and speak a messy client reply into a practice copy of Gmail and a long prompt into a practice copy of ChatGPT, then check the clean text. Northgate Accounting and its clients are made up. It is not an official Wispr Flow course.
