If you record yourself talking to a camera for clients or social media, this editor adds the captions and cleans up the pauses and filler words so the video is ready to post faster.

## What happened

Captions (captions.ai) says it is an AI video editor that turns uploaded or newly generated footage into a finished video, with editing styles that make the cuts and overlay B-roll, and a chat-style editor that takes text prompts for changes. The site lists auto captions and translated subtitles with stylized fonts, translation into 100+ languages, removal of pauses, filler words and interruptions, eye contact correction, background noise removal, and generated music and sound effects. It also offers AI avatars, including an AI twin of yourself, and runs on the web, iOS and Android. The page says it recently merged Mirage Studio with Captions, and that former Mirage Studio subscribers can log in through Captions to see their existing projects and actors. It shows “20M” as its current users and “100+” caption styles; those are the company’s own figures, and it publishes no accuracy measurements for its captions or edits. ## Who gets it, and what it costs

- **Free to start:** the site says Captions is free to download and some features work without a subscription, without saying exactly which. The pricing page lists a free plan with no AI usage credits and one caption template, covering basic tools such as trimming and transitions.
- **Paid plans:** monthly credit plans from Max at 500 credits up to Frontier tiers and custom Enterprise. Unused credits roll over, up to three times the monthly amount.
- **Free trial:** the pages state no trial length.
- **Sign up:** on the web at captions.ai, or from the App Store and Google Play.

Free plan, then Max at $24.99 and Frontier at $69.99 per month, with higher Frontier tiers and custom Enterprise pricing, as listed on Captions’ pricing page on October 16, 2026. That page showed iOS plan prices only and no annual prices, so confirm the price on the platform you use.

## What it means for an office team

The problem is that a short talking-head video, such as a client update, a product tip or a LinkedIn post, takes far longer to edit than to record: trimming the dead air, adding captions most viewers need because they watch with the sound off, and fixing the odd glance away from the camera. Captions’ pitch is to do the first pass of all of that for you.

The most basic use is a captioned clip for a business post. Upload the raw take, let it trim and caption, then watch the whole result with the sound on and read every caption before you post. Auto captions can get names, numbers and industry terms wrong, and an AI avatar or eye-contact fix changes how you appear, so label AI-made footage honestly.

Stepthrough already has a free hands-on lesson on the real Captions screens. See Captions listed with similar tools in the [video and avatar tools directory](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/ai-tools/video-avatars).
