Recruiters should start with [Interview Debrief to Scorecard](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/chatgpt-interview-debrief-scorecard), a 9-minute ChatGPT lesson. It turns a panel's debrief transcript into a scorecard against the role's must-haves, with a quote as evidence for each score, and it shows how to keep anything that isn't about the job out of the notes. That is the task where AI helps a recruiter most and where fairness matters most, so it comes first.

The path is five free lessons and about 47 minutes. Four use ChatGPT only; the last uses n8n.

## Which lesson should you take first?

Take the scorecard lesson first, because it teaches the recruiter's version of every AI habit at once: a clear request, evidence for every claim, "Not stated" instead of guesses, and job-related points only. Everything after it applies the same habits to other parts of the hiring cycle.

From there the path works outward from the debrief: [prompts](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/prompt) for posts and outreach, candidate emails that promise nothing extra, intake meeting notes, and inbox drafts for routine questions.

## What do you build in the scorecard lesson?

You build a debrief scorecard for Willow Bend Physical Therapy, a made-up practice hiring a Front Desk Lead. Hannah, the HR manager, pastes the Google Meet transcript into ChatGPT under a request that names the four must-haves: front desk experience, insurance verification, calming upset patients and training other staff.

The request asks for a score on each must-have, **Strong**, **Partial** or **Not discussed**, with a short quote as evidence, plus the decisions, an **action items table** and open questions. It says to use only what's about the job's must-haves and not to guess at age, family, health or religion. In the transcript, a panelist mentions the candidate's young kids, and the HR manager says to leave it out. The scorecard leaves it out too. You fill in two dates marked **Not stated**, ask for a short email inviting the candidate to the final round, and learn to upload the transcript file with **Add photos & files**.

## Why learn prompt structure second?

Because after the scorecard, most of your AI use will be writing: job posts, outreach messages, interview invites. [Prompt Writing 101](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/prompt-writing-101-role-context-task-format) shows the four parts that make those requests work: **Role**, **Context**, **Task** and **Format**.

The lesson's example is a lawn company's announcement email, not a job post, but the structure carries over directly. You rebuild a vague prompt in four parts and save it as a template in a **Prompt Templates** Google Doc. It takes 8 minutes. Afterward you can keep one template for each message you send often.

## How does the reply lesson apply to candidates?

Candidate emails are full of promises: start dates, pay, next steps, timelines. [Reply Faster: Customer Emails](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/chatgpt-reply-to-customer-emails) teaches you to give ChatGPT only the facts you can stand behind and make it prove each promise.

In a made-up bakery's thread, you paste the thread, the facts and instructions, then click **Paste check** for a table matching every promise to a fact. **Paste fix** corrects the one line that overpromises. It takes 9 minutes. For a recruiter, that check catches a draft that hints at a salary, a remote option or a decision date nobody approved.

## When do you need the meeting summary lesson?

Take it if you run intake meetings with hiring managers or weekly hiring syncs. [Summarize a Meeting Transcript](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/chatgpt-summarize-meeting-transcript) uses the same request pattern as the scorecard lesson, applied to a made-up bakery's team meeting, without the must-have scoring.

You get a **summary**, the **decisions**, an **action items table** and **open questions**, then a [follow-up email](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/follow-up-email) to the team. It takes 9 minutes. If the scorecard lesson already felt familiar enough, you can skip this one and come back when you have an intake meeting to write up.

## What does the n8n lesson add for a recruiter?

It drafts replies to routine emails in your inbox so you start from a draft instead of a blank page. [AI Email Responder](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/ai-email-responder-gmail-drafts-n8n) builds an n8n agent for Greenline Pest Control, a made-up company, that checks Gmail **Every Minute** and saves each reply as a draft in the same thread.

You add a **Gmail** trigger with **On message received**, an **AI Agent** with a [system message](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/system-prompt) of facts and rules, an **OpenAI Chat Model**, and a **Gmail Tool** set to **Draft**, then fix a real error, **No session ID found**. It takes 12 minutes. For recruiting, the facts would be your interview locations, process steps and who to contact. Keep it on logistics questions only, never on anything about a candidate's application or status.

## How long will this take, and what do you need?

At one lesson a day you'll finish in a working week, or do the four ChatGPT lessons in one afternoon. The practice versions are free; to work for real you need:

- **Lessons 1 to 4** need ChatGPT, which has a free plan and paid plans. Use a business plan that doesn't train on your data for anything with candidate details.
- **Lesson 5** needs an n8n account (n8n Cloud has paid plans, or you can self-host) and an OpenAI API key, which is pay-as-you-go and separate from ChatGPT plans. It also needs access to the Gmail inbox it watches.

Check each vendor's pricing page for current plans.

## Try it free, step by step

**Turn an Interview Debrief into a Scorecard and a Candidate Follow-Up (Recruiting & HR)**. Turn the transcript of an interview panel's debrief into a scorecard against the role's must-haves, the decisions, action items with owners and dates, and a follow-up email to the candidate. You do every step yourself in a practice copy of ChatGPT, it checks your work as you go, and “Do it for me” finishes any step you get stuck on. Free, and nothing touches your real accounts.

## What should you do after the path?

Use the scorecard request on your next real debrief, then build a small set of prompt templates for the messages you send every week. The [ChatGPT hub](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/tool/chatgpt) and the [n8n hub](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/tool/n8n) collect every lesson for those tools.

## What should a recruiter never hand to AI?

Never hand AI the hiring decision. AI can organize what the panel said; people decide who moves forward, who gets an offer and who doesn't.

- **No decisions by AI.** Don't ask ChatGPT to rank, reject or pick candidates. Keep a person deciding, and make sure that person can explain the decision in job-related terms.
- **No protected characteristics.** Age, family status, health, religion, race, sex, national origin and similar details stay out of prompts and out of notes, as the scorecard lesson shows.
- **Watch for bias.** AI can repeat bias from its training data or from your own notes. Score against written must-haves, the same for every candidate.
- **Get the rules right.** This is not legal advice. Follow your company's hiring policy and the law where you hire, and have an HR professional or employment attorney review your process before you rely on AI in it.

A privacy note: candidate data is personal. Leave out contact details, ID numbers, health details and anything the task doesn't need, use a business account with the right data controls, and follow your company's rules on where candidate information may go.

## Key takeaways

- Recruiters should start with Interview Debrief to Scorecard, which scores must-haves with quoted evidence and keeps non-job details out.
- The five-lesson path takes about 47 minutes, and four of the lessons need only ChatGPT.
- The reply-check routine stops candidate emails from promising pay, dates or options nobody approved.
- An n8n inbox agent can draft replies to logistics questions, but it should never touch application status or decisions.
- People make hiring decisions; have an HR professional or employment attorney review how AI fits your process.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can ChatGPT screen résumés for me?**

None of these lessons do that, and it's a risky place to start. Screening is a hiring decision, so keep it with people and get HR or legal review before using AI anywhere near it.

**Is it safe to paste interview transcripts into ChatGPT?**

Use a business account that doesn't train on your data, remove details the scorecard doesn't need, and follow your company's rules on candidate information.

**Do I need n8n to get value from this path?**

No. The first four lessons use only ChatGPT. The n8n lesson is for recruiters whose inbox fills with the same logistics questions.
