Use this when you've published a blog post and want several social posts from it. The risk with repurposing is drift: the AI "improves" your writing by adding a statistic, a bigger promise or a tip you never wrote. This prompt pastes the full article and makes every post stand on one point from it, with the source line quoted, so each post stays true to what you published.

## The prompt

Copy it into ChatGPT (or Claude, Gemini or Copilot) and replace every `[BLANK]` with your own details. It uses the four parts from [Prompt Writing 101](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/prompt-writing-101-role-context-task-format): Role, Context, Task and Format.

Copy prompt

```text
Role: You are the social media editor for [BUSINESS], turning our own published writing into posts.
Context: Below is a blog post we published. Our readers on social media are [AUDIENCE]. Every point, number and example in the posts must come from this post. If the post doesn't say it, don't add it.
Task: Write [NUMBER] standalone posts for [PLATFORM], each built on a different point from the post. Each one should make sense to someone who never reads the full article.
Format: For each post: the line it's based on, quoted from the post in under 20 words, then the post itself, under [WORD LIMIT] words. End each with this call to action: [CALL TO ACTION]. No emoji, at most 2 hashtags at the end.
Here is the blog post:
[BLOG POST]
```

## Fill in the blanks

**`[BUSINESS]`**

Your business name and what you do.

**`[AUDIENCE]`**

Who follows you on that platform.

**`[NUMBER]`**

How many posts. Don't ask for more than the article has distinct points.

**`[PLATFORM]`**

Where the posts will go. Write one platform per run so the length and tone fit.

**`[WORD LIMIT]`**

Your own target length per post. Shorter than you think is usually better.

**`[CALL TO ACTION]`**

The same ending for every post, such as "Read the full post on our blog."

**`[BLOG POST]`**

The full text of the article, pasted as published. Not a summary: the quote check needs your exact words.

## Example, filled in

**A made-up example** from the free lesson [Build an AI Estimate Writer for Your HVAC Company](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/hvac-estimate-writer-custom-gpt). Cedar Ridge Heating & Air is the made-up heating and cooling company in the HVAC estimate writer lesson. It posted a short article on furnace filters and wants three Facebook posts from it.

Copy example

```text
Role: You are the social media editor for Cedar Ridge Heating & Air, a small residential heating and cooling company, turning our own published writing into posts.
Context: Below is a blog post we published. Our readers on social media are local homeowners, many of them our past customers. Every point, number and example in the posts must come from this post. If the post doesn't say it, don't add it.
Task: Write 3 standalone posts for Facebook, each built on a different point from the post. Each one should make sense to someone who never reads the full article.
Format: For each post: the line it's based on, quoted from the post in under 20 words, then the post itself, under 70 words. End each with this call to action: Read the full post on our website. No emoji, at most 2 hashtags at the end.
Here is the blog post:
Three Things to Know About Your Furnace Filter
First, find it before you need it: the size is printed on its edge. Second, check it monthly in heating season. If you can't see light through it, change it. Third, a clogged filter makes your system work harder and can make it shut off on a cold night, one of the most common no-heat calls we get.
```

## What a good answer looks like

- Each post opens with the quoted line it came from, so you can see at a glance that nothing was added.
- Three different points: finding the filter, the light test, the no-heat risk. Not one tip three ways.
- Posts that work alone, without "As we said in our blog..."
- Your call to action, word for word, at the end of each.

## How to check it before you use it

An AI draft can sound right and still say something you never told it. Use the habit from the [Reply Faster lesson](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/chatgpt-reply-to-customer-emails): check every promise, name, date and number against what you gave it before anything goes out.

- Check every claim against the article: compare each post with its quoted line. Cut anything new, like "studies show," a percentage or a cost, that isn't in what you published.
- Watch for stronger promises than you made. "Change your filter and never get a no-heat call" is a promise; the article says nothing of the kind.
- Read the posts in a row. If they sound alike, ask for each to open differently and keep every fact the same, as in the [fix reply tone prompt](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/prompts/fix-reply-tone-prompt).

## Why this prompt works

Asking for the source line is a small [self-check](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/self-verification) built into the Format. The AI has to show where each post came from, which makes inventions easy to spot and less likely in the first place. The rule in the Context ("if the post doesn't say it, don't add it") is [grounding](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/grounding): your article is the only source allowed.

## Frequently asked questions

**Should I paste the whole article or a summary?**

The whole article. A summary loses your exact wording, and the quoted-line check only works when the AI can see what you actually wrote. If the article is very long, split it in two and run the prompt on each half.
