Use this when you want to text a sale, a new product or an event to customers who signed up for your marketing texts. A text gets read fast, so it has to be short, clear and honest. AI drafts tend to stack offers, invent urgency ("only 3 left!") and drop the opt-out line. This prompt keeps one offer, your real dates and an opt-out instruction in every version. Marketing texts generally need the customer's permission first, so check the rules where you operate and your texting provider's requirements before you send.

## The prompt

Copy it into ChatGPT (or Claude, Gemini or Copilot) and replace every `[BLANK]` with your own details. It uses the four parts from [Prompt Writing 101](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/prompt-writing-101-role-context-task-format): Role, Context, Task and Format.

Copy prompt

```text
Role: You write promotional text messages for [BUSINESS], sent only to customers who agreed to get marketing texts from us.
Context: The offer, exactly: [OFFER]. Start and end dates: [DATES]. How to use or redeem it: [HOW TO REDEEM]. Opt-out wording our texting tool requires: [OPT OUT]. Only this one offer. No invented scarcity, countdowns or "last chance" unless the dates say so.
Task: Write three versions of the text, each with who it's from, the offer, the end date, how to redeem it and the opt-out line.
Format: Each version under 160 characters including the opt-out line, starting with the business name. No emoji, no all caps, no more than one exclamation mark. Label them A, B and C.
```

## Fill in the blanks

**`[BUSINESS]`**

Your short business name, the way customers know you.

**`[OFFER]`**

The single offer with its exact terms, such as "15% off any bag of whole-bean coffee."

**`[DATES]`**

When it starts and ends, with weekdays.

**`[HOW TO REDEEM]`**

A code, "show this text" or "order online," plus any limit you really have.

**`[OPT OUT]`**

The opt-out words your texting provider uses, such as "Reply STOP to opt out."

## Example, filled in

**A made-up example** from the free lesson [Build an n8n AI Agent That Plans Your Content Calendar](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/n8n-ai-agent-content-calendar). Harbor & Pine Coffee Roasters is the made-up roaster in the AI Campaign Calendar Agent lesson, where one campaign theme becomes a two-week email and content calendar. This made-up text supports one weekend of that campaign.

Copy example

```text
Role: You write promotional text messages for Harbor & Pine, sent only to customers who agreed to get marketing texts from us.
Context: The offer, exactly: 15% off any 12-ounce bag of whole-bean coffee. Start and end dates: Friday, Oct 9 through Sunday, Oct 11. How to use or redeem it: use code FALLBEANS online or show this text in the shop; one use per customer. Opt-out wording our texting tool requires: "Reply STOP to opt out." Only this one offer. No invented scarcity, countdowns or "last chance" unless the dates say so.
Task: Write three versions of the text, each with who it's from, the offer, the end date, how to redeem it and the opt-out line.
Format: Each version under 160 characters including the opt-out line, starting with the business name. No emoji, no all caps, no more than one exclamation mark. Label them A, B and C.
```

## What a good answer looks like

- "Harbor & Pine: 15% off any 12-oz bag of whole beans, Fri to Sun Oct 11. Code FALLBEANS or show this text. Reply STOP to opt out."
- The code, the dates and the opt-out line in all three versions.
- Versions that differ in wording, not in terms.
- Nothing like "limited stock" or "today only."

## How to check it before you use it

An AI draft can sound right and still say something you never told it. Use the habit from the [Reply Faster lesson](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/chatgpt-reply-to-customer-emails): check every promise, name, date and number against what you gave it before anything goes out.

- Check every promise in each version: 15% (not 20%), 12-ounce bags, whole bean only, ends Sunday, Oct 11.
- Count the characters, including the opt-out line. Over 160 may split into two messages.
- Make sure your list only includes people who opted in to marketing texts, not everyone who ever gave you a phone number.
- Send one to yourself first to see how the business name and code look on a phone.

## Why this prompt works

Requiring the opt-out line in every version and limiting it to one offer are [prompt constraints](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/prompt-constraints) that match how texts are read: once, quickly, on a small screen. Asking for three versions lets you pick the clearest without changing the facts.

## Practice it in the free lesson

**[Build an n8n AI Agent That Plans Your Content Calendar](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/n8n-ai-agent-content-calendar)**: Build an AI agent for Harbor & Pine Coffee Roasters that turns one campaign theme into a two-week email and content calendar in Google Sheets — chat trigger, AI Agent, system prompt, model, memory, and the Sheets tool. You do every step yourself in a practice copy of n8n, and nothing touches your real accounts.
