Plenty of marketing and ops teams run an [n8n](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/tool/n8n) workflow that reads a subreddit through RSS: the newest posts in a niche, summed up by AI and posted in Slack every morning. Reddit is switching off its [RSS feeds](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/rss-feed) on November 13, so those workflows are about to stop getting posts. ProLevelMax (prolevelmax.com) is a pay-per-call data [API](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/api) for Reddit posts and comment threads, plus 150+ other platforms, and n8n calls it with one [HTTP Request node](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/http-request-node). In this free lesson you find the Subreddit feed source in the ProLevelMax console, put your API key in an n8n credential, replace the RSS Read node, and let an [AI Agent](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/n8n-ai-agent-tutorial-google-sheets) answer questions from the posts with links. Every screen is a real screenshot of ProLevelMax and n8n. This is my own lesson, not an official ProLevelMax course.

## RSS Read fields and their ProLevelMax names

What each field your old RSS Read node gave you is called in a ProLevelMax post (with need_format set to true).

| RSS-style field | ProLevelMax field |
| --- | --- |
| title | post.postTitle |
| link | post.url |
| published | post.createdAt |
| score | post.score |
| comments | post.commentCount |

[Download the n8n workflow (JSON)](https://learn.ynteractive.com/templates/prolevelmax-reddit-keyword-monitor.json)

## The business case: a morning summary that is about to go quiet

Picture Maya Chen, the marketing manager at Tallgrass Books, a made-up bookkeeping app for small businesses. Every weekday at 8:00 AM an n8n workflow reads the newest posts in r/smallbusiness through an RSS Read node, asks OpenAI what owners are asking about, and posts the summary in Slack. Her blog posts and ad angles come from it.

Reddit is switching off its [RSS feeds](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/rss-feed) on November 13. Reddit announced it on [r/modnews](https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/1wubgvt/continuing_our_infrastructure_updates_whats/) on September 30, and [Decrypt covered it](https://decrypt.co/379892/reddit-killing-rss-feeds-public-api-access-ai-scrapers) on October 1. After that the RSS Read node gets nothing. Reading the subreddit by hand instead would take, say, 30 minutes a day: about 2.5 hours a week, or about $540 a month at $50 an hour. These are example numbers, so use your own. One API call a day to keep the workflow running costs about 9 cents a month.

## Who this is for, and what you need

Marketers, founders and ops people who already use n8n with Reddit RSS, or want a daily read on what a community is saying, without registering a Reddit developer app. You need an n8n account, a ProLevelMax account with an API key, and an OpenAI credential in n8n for the AI step.

## Step 1: find the source in the ProLevelMax console

Sign up at prolevelmax.com and verify your email; the Overview shows a $1.00 balance of free credit. Click API keys and create a key. n8n sends it as a [bearer token](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/bearer-token). Then open Data sources and search for subreddit feed. The Subreddit feed source, id procli_reddit_c, returns the latest or top posts of one subreddit, one page per call, at $0.003 per call. Click Collect to see its fields: subreddit_name (required) and sort, which takes BEST, HOT, NEW, TOP, CONTROVERSIAL or RISING.

For full comment threads, the Post comments source (procli_reddit_b) reads the comments of one post, also $0.003 per call. Add it as a second call for the posts you care about.

## Step 2: replace the RSS Read node with an HTTP Request node

Delete the RSS Read node and add an HTTP Request node in its place. Set Method to POST and URL to https://prolevelmax.com/v1/run, the same [API endpoint](https://learn.ynteractive.com/content/glossary/api-endpoint) for every source. Set Authentication to Generic Credential Type and Generic Auth Type to Bearer Auth, choose Create new credential, paste your ProLevelMax key into Bearer Token and save.

Turn on Send Body, set Body Content Type to JSON and Specify Body to Using JSON, and paste the body below. Swap in your own subreddit.

{"scraper": "procli_reddit_c", "input": {"subreddit_name": "smallbusiness", "sort": "NEW"}}

The response has items (the posts), count, page (the cursor for the next page) and cost. Each run of the node is one call.

## Step 3: let AI answer from the posts

A Code node keeps each post's title, text, score, comment count and link, so the AI reads a short, tidy list. ProLevelMax puts each post's fields in a post object: post.postTitle (the title), post.url (the link), post.createdAt (when it was posted), post.score and post.commentCount. In the Code node, read them as item.post.postTitle and so on. An AI Agent with an OpenAI Chat Model (gpt-4o-mini is enough) gets the question and the posts, with this system message: answer using only the Reddit posts provided, group what people are saying into 3 to 5 themes, quote short bits and include the post links, and say so if the posts do not cover the question.

In the lesson the trigger is a chat, so you can ask things like "What are small business owners frustrated about with bookkeeping this week?". For a morning summary, use a Schedule Trigger instead and keep your Slack node at the end.

## Variant: a keyword monitor that replaces the RSS Read node

If your workflow watched Reddit for a word, such as your brand, a competitor or a problem your product solves, you do not need the AI part. This four-node workflow, from ProLevelMax's founder, drops in where the RSS Read node was. Once a day it searches Reddit for new posts that match your keyword and hands each post on with the same field names an RSS feed used, so your Slack, Sheets or AI nodes keep working unchanged.

Every day (Schedule Trigger, every 24 hours), then Search Reddit (HTTP Request, POST to https://prolevelmax.com/v1/run with the Post search source procli_reddit_d), then One item per post (Split Out on items), then Map to RSS-style fields (Edit Fields): title is post.postTitle, link is post.url, published is post.createdAt, score is post.score and comments is post.commentCount.

{"scraper": "procli_reddit_d", "input": {"query": "\"your keyword\"", "search_type": "post", "sort": "NEW", "time_range": "day", "need_format": true}}

Download the workflow below, open the file, copy everything and paste it onto an n8n canvas (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V). Replace YOUR_PROLEVELMAX_KEY in the Authorization header with your key, or better, move it into a Header Auth credential. Change your keyword in the body. Each daily search is one call, $0.003.

## Mistakes to avoid

- Pasting the API key into the URL or the JSON body. Keep it in the Bearer Auth credential.
- Waiting until November 13. Switch now and run both side by side for a few days.
- Sending the AI every field. Trim the posts first so it reads titles, text and links.
- Trusting the summary blindly. Open a couple of the linked posts before you act on a theme.

## Cost and limits

From prolevelmax.com and the console on 19 October 2026: the Subreddit feed and Post comments sources are $0.003 per call, pay as you go from a prepaid balance with no subscription, and new users get $1 of free credit after verifying their email. Sign up through [my referral link](https://prolevelmax.com/?ref=nfi72xac) (partner link, I may earn a commission, at no cost to you) and you get 20% extra on your first top-up. ProLevelMax says a failed run is usually free and a run never takes the balance below zero. Results are kept for 30 days under Runs. Check prolevelmax.com/pricing for current prices.

## Step by step: ProLevelMax in n8n: Keep Your Reddit Workflow Alive After the RSS Shutdown

All 26 steps of the interactive module, in order. In the module you watch each one, then do it yourself in a practice copy that checks your work.

### 1. The workflow that is about to break

1. **Look at the morning workflow.** Maya Chen is the marketing manager at Tallgrass Books, a bookkeeping app for small businesses (made up). Every weekday at 8:00 AM an n8n workflow reads the newest posts in **r/smallbusiness** through an **RSS Read** node, asks OpenAI what owners are asking about, and posts the summary in Slack. It is where her blog and ad ideas come from. Click the **workflow**.
Meet Maya. She runs marketing for a small bookkeeping app. Every morning, an n8n workflow reads the newest posts in the small business subreddit. A I sums up what owners are asking about, and posts it in Slack.
2. **See what breaks.** Reddit is switching off its **RSS feeds on November 13**. Reddit announced it on **r/modnews** on September 30, and Decrypt reported it on October 1 (both sources are on this lesson's guide page). After that the **RSS Read** node gets nothing, and the Slack summary goes quiet. Click the **warning**.
Here's the problem. Reddit announced it's switching off its R S S feeds on November thirteenth. After that, the R S S node gets nothing. And the summary goes quiet.
3. **Put a price on it.** Without the workflow, someone reads the subreddit by hand: say **about 30 minutes a day**, about 2.5 hours a week. At $50 an hour, that is **about $540 a month**. These are example numbers, so swap in your own. Click the **total**.
Without the workflow, someone reads Reddit by hand. Say thirty minutes a day. At fifty dollars an hour, that's about five hundred forty dollars a month. Use your own numbers here.
4. **Meet ProLevelMax.** ProLevelMax (prolevelmax.com) is a pay-per-call data API for Reddit posts and comment threads, plus TikTok, YouTube, X and 150+ other platforms. n8n calls it with **one HTTP Request node**, so you swap out the RSS Read node and keep everything else. The screens ahead are **real screenshots** of the ProLevelMax console and n8n. Click the **ProLevelMax** card.
ProLevelMax is a data A P I for Reddit, and a hundred fifty other platforms. You pay per call. n8n talks to it with one H T T P Request node. So you swap out the R S S node, and keep the rest.

### 2. Get set up in ProLevelMax

5. **Check your free credit.** Sign up at prolevelmax.com and verify your email. The **Overview** shows your **Balance**: new users get **$1 of free credit**, no card required. That is enough to build and test this workflow many times over. Click **Balance**.
Sign up at prolevelmax dot com, and verify your email. New users get one dollar of free credit, no card needed. That's plenty to build and test this.
6. **Create an API key.** Click **API keys** in the sidebar and create a key. You will paste it into an n8n credential in a minute. Never paste it into the workflow itself, a chat or an email. You can remove a key here at any time. Click **API keys**.
You'll paste it into n8n in a minute. Keep it out of the workflow itself, and out of chats and emails.

### 3. Find the Reddit source

7. **Open Data sources.** Each kind of data has its own **source** with its own id and price. Click **Data sources**.
Every kind of data has its own source, with its own price.
8. **Search for the subreddit feed.** Reddit alone has 25 sources: search, post comments, user posts and more. Type **subreddit feed** in **Search sources**. Click the **search box**.
Reddit alone has twenty five sources.
9. **Note the source id and price.** **Subreddit feed**: latest or top posts of one subreddit, one page per call, **$0.003 per call**. Its id, **procli_reddit_c**, is what n8n sends. If you also want comment threads, the **Post comments** source (procli_reddit_b) is the next call. Click the **Subreddit feed** row.
Subreddit feed. The newest or top posts from one subreddit. Three tenths of a cent per call. Note its I D. That's what n8n will send.
10. **Open Collect to see its fields.** Click **Collect**. This form runs the source right in the console, without n8n. We use it to see exactly which fields the source takes.
This form runs the source right here. We'll use it to see which fields it needs.
11. **Read the field names.** Two fields matter: **subreddit_name** (required, here **smallbusiness**) and **sort** (BEST, HOT, **NEW**, TOP, CONTROVERSIAL or RISING). These exact names go in the n8n request body. **Run** would charge $0.003 and save the result under **Runs**, but you do not need it: n8n will make the call. Click **subreddit_name**.
Two fields matter. subreddit name, here small business. And sort. We want NEW. These exact names go into n8n.
12. **Close the form.** Click **Close**. Now over to n8n.
    Now, over to n8n.

### 4. Swap RSS for one HTTP Request node

13. **Open the HTTP Request node.** In n8n, delete the **RSS Read** node and put an **HTTP Request** node in its place. Here it is renamed **Get subreddit posts (ProLevelMax)**. Everything after it stays. Double-click the **HTTP Request** node.
In n8n, delete the R S S node. Put an H T T P Request node in its place. Everything after it stays. Double click the H T T P Request node.
14. **Set the method to POST.** Set **Method** to **POST**. You are sending ProLevelMax a small instruction, not just reading a page. Click **Method**.
    Set Method to POST.
15. **Paste the URL.** Set **URL** to **https://prolevelmax.com/v1/run**. It is the same address for every source; the body says which one. Click **URL**.
prolevelmax dot com, slash v1, slash run. It's the same for every source.
16. **Choose Generic Credential Type.** Set **Authentication** to **Generic Credential Type**. Click **Authentication**.
Set Authentication to Generic Credential Type.
17. **Choose Bearer Auth.** Set **Generic Auth Type** to **Bearer Auth**. ProLevelMax reads the key from an **Authorization: Bearer** header. Then, in the **Bearer Auth** list below it, choose **Create new credential**. Click **Generic Auth Type**.
Set Generic Auth Type to Bearer Auth. Then, under it, create a new credential.
18. **Paste your key into Bearer Token.** Paste your ProLevelMax API key into **Bearer Token**. n8n stores it encrypted and adds it to every request, so it never shows in the workflow or an exported file. Click **Bearer Token**.
n8n keeps it encrypted, and out of the workflow.
19. **Save the credential.** Rename it **ProLevelMax** under **Details** if you like, then click **Save**.
20. **Paste the JSON body.** Turn on **Send Body**, set **Body Content Type** to **JSON** and **Specify Body** to **Using JSON**, then paste: `{"scraper": "procli_reddit_c", "input": {"subreddit_name": "smallbusiness", "sort": "NEW"}}`. Swap in your own subreddit. Each run of this node is one call, $0.003. Click the **JSON** box.
Turn on Send Body. The source I D, the subreddit, and sort by new. Swap in your own subreddit.

### 5. Let AI answer from the posts

21. **Keep only what the AI needs.** ProLevelMax answers with **items** (the posts), **count** and **cost**. Each item holds a **post** with `post.postTitle`, `post.url`, `post.createdAt`, `post.score` and `post.commentCount`. A small **Code** node keeps those fields for 25 posts, so the AI reads a tidy list instead of every field. The field list is on this lesson's guide page. Click the **Code** node.
ProLevelMax sends back the posts, plus the count and the cost. Each post has a title, a link, a date, a score and a comment count. A small Code node keeps just those.
22. **Tell the AI to answer only from the posts.** The **AI Agent** gets the question and the posts. Its system message: *Answer using only the Reddit posts provided. Group what people are saying into 3 to 5 themes, quote short bits and include the post links. If the posts do not cover the question, say so.* Click the **AI Agent**.
The A I Agent gets the question, and the posts. Tell it to answer only from those posts. Group them into a few themes, with links. And say so if the posts don't cover it.
23. **Pick the chat model.** The **OpenAI Chat Model** here uses **gpt-4o-mini**, which is cheap and fine for summaries. Connect your own OpenAI credential. Click the **OpenAI Chat Model**.
Pick the chat model. A small model is fine for summaries.
24. **Ask it a question.** Click **Open chat** and ask: **"What are small business owners frustrated about with bookkeeping this week?"** The workflow fetches the newest r/smallbusiness posts and answers with themes and links. For Maya's morning summary, swap the chat trigger for her **Schedule Trigger** and keep the Slack node at the end. Click **Open chat**.
It pulls the newest posts, and answers with themes and links. For a morning summary, use a schedule trigger instead.

### 6. What it saves, what it costs

25. **What this saves you.** Click **What this saves you**.
26. **Check the pricing.** From prolevelmax.com and the console, read 19 October 2026: the **Subreddit feed** source is **$0.003 per call**, pay as you go from a prepaid balance, no subscription. New users get **$1 free** after verifying their email. one call a day is about 9 cents a month. Check prolevelmax.com/pricing for current prices. Click the **pricing** card.
Here's the cost, as of October nineteenth. Three tenths of a cent per call. One call a day is about nine cents a month. And new users get a dollar free. Check the pricing page before you rely on it.
